[GWL]: sending a document

A writer friend has been asked by a publisher to email a document. She does
not have a computer so is going to type it up and send it from mine. But in
what form do you think the publisher will expect to receive it? Would it be
usual to send it as an attached Word document or to actually send it in a
new email message such as this one?

I tried scanning a page as "text" of an earlier story which she had typed,
but sending it to Outlook and to Wordpad ended up with the text being
garbled. (Clearly, I am clueless.) So she will need to retype it, but (am
repeating self) would it be more proper to do so in Word or in email? Oh,
the story is 10 pages long.

Thanks in advance.
