My biggest gripe about book stores is their policy to order a new book,
let's say 5 or 10 copies,
My book experience is in other fields, but this doesn't sound quite right. It doesn't make sense, because of the sliding discounts, for a bookstore to order fewer than ten of anything for stock. Depending on the publisher and/or distributor, sometimes even more.
The way to make money with books is to sell them yourself, even if you don't self publish. With my last book, for instance, we've sold more than 200 and realized the full list price. Can't hardly beat that.
