Re: Exposure-only photograph requests?

Chris, we too have been contacted by book and magazine people who wish to
use our photos and excerpts from my articles.

They offer only a reference to us and maybe a link to the web site. Heaven
only knows, I'm not a photographer and our pictures are not professional and
they are still requesting the use of them.

It sounds like this is becoming quite common. I know a great deal of my
pics are around the web already and the site has only been up since 2000.

I am also concerned with this trend, especially use of my articles for
nothing. It took me many years of work to get the experience I have and you
would think it would be worth something!

This is my first post to this list as I rarely have time to reply to queries
here but I really enjoy it, especially the reference URL's that you post.

I'm a horticulturalist by trade and have operated a rose nursery just
outside Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada for some twelve years now. Writing was
my first passion and nature was the second. As my family thought writing was
a tricky business I went into horticulture. I've been growing roses AND
writing for twenty-seven of my forty-seven years. My last article was in the
Canadian Rose Society's latest "Rose Annual" published in late July.
We grow organically. Not an easy feat sometimes but I think it's worth it.

Should any one need information on roses or organics, you can email me at:
Peggy@oldheirloomroses.com

AND: Ron, I think you are doing a wonderful job! We are fortunate to have
you.

Cheers everyone
