You're right, Larry, in that my intent wasn't to infer that the copyright laws are voided, just that in practical terms they may as well not exist.
So, right after my post, comes an email from a friend. Very excited. A book publisher saw one of her imgages on a gardening site and wants to use it as a cover pix. And just how much did she want for that use.
Sometimes the good guys _do_ win. But not too often when it comes to web-based stuff.
