Carolyn opens up a subject that I have become quite interested in of late — book packaging. I've discovered that just mentioning the phrase can evoke extreme responses on either end. Some people automatically think of vanity titles. Publishers deny that they ever ever ever buy packages (when I know for a fact that they do).
I'm just into a project (as author) with a fabulous project manager who is also our graphic designer. We have a photographer, but as yet don't have an editor. The subject is one that lights people's eyes up when I describe it (sorry, folks, you know the drill....until the contract is signed...)
As we progress I will be happy to share our experiences. In fact, I was thinking of proposing it as a topic for GWA in Chicago. But I would of course like to hear what's happened to others.
