Re: Editing issues


Well, Dan, you were quite coherent and well written here! I don't mind
colloquialisms, and bad English, when it is used on purpose, can be
amusing. I can forgive the occasional typo and lack of agreement between
subject and verb in an e-mail. However, I can not forgive it in published
materials. What peeved me and started off this thread was that I was
reading a well-known, much-published writer and wondering how on earth
she got herself into print so often--and I was feeling jealous.

By the way, I believe that commas are an underused art form. When they
are used properly, they are marvelous for clarifying material. But, of
course, they shouldn't be put, into the wrong, places!
