Re: notation conventions

Title: AOL Email
I find myself historic having lived a little bit.
I am told I am scholarly by the pieces of paper on my "I like me" wall.
I just write the date without follwoing letters. If some editor or chair of a committee receiving a report wants to add letters, that's fine.
Later on some reactionary will change it back.

Do any of you historic/scholarly folk know how to appropriately write the new dating conventions and how accurately they correlate with the older form.  I am finding it written in a heap of different ways.

i.e. is it BCE/CE or bce and ce or what?
