Re: News from Cool Springs Press

Finally -- the letter is a Word file that I can
post. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Dear Friends:

As the founder of Cool Springs Press in 1991, I
am very pleased to tell you that I have just
completed the acquisition of Cool Springs Press
back from Thomas Nelson Publishers. The closing,
which occurred this morning, completes two years
of negotiations between us to take the company
back private again.

Since the company was sold to Thomas Nelson a few
years ago, I have remained involved with the
company in a number of roles, and I have followed
you and your books from a distance. I know many
of your personally, so I want to tell you that I
am thrilled to be back as your partner in
publishing. For those of you that have come
aboard recently, I look forward to introducing
myself to you and working with you on your
publishing projects.

I am pleased to also tell you that staff of Cool
Springs Press, Cindy Games, Billie Brownell, and
Ramona Wilkes, have agreed to join me once again
and will be continuing their great work on your
projects. I owe a great deal to these three
ladies. They have continued to produce
outstanding books over the years and have
continued to consistently implement the Cool
Springs Press mission through some turbulent
times.

I understand that the road that some of you have
traveled while CSP was an imprint of Nelson has
been a little bumpy. It is my desire, over the
next few weeks, to smooth out these bumps so we
can get back to doing what we do best, creating,
marketing, and selling great garden books. But I
do want to let you know that this transition may
take a little time, and I ask for your
understanding as we iron out some of these issues
and rebuild our lawn and garden customer base. .
For instance, our website will be down for about
six weeks as we remove our content from the
Nelson site, go through the legal hurdles in
transferring domain names and get our new site
up. Additionally, our email addresses will be
temporarily changed so that we will not miss any
communication from you. I assure you that these
issues will be temporary and that we are working
hard to address them all. We will be using these
E*Blasts as a means to communicate with you on
where we are in this process.

In conclusion, I want to emphasize our belief
that Cool Springs Press has the finest library of
gardening books available in the country and
reiterate our commitment to adding to that
library. Our goal is to combine professional
publishing, aggressive marketing and outstanding
book production with the open family atmosphere
that was the hallmark of Cool Springs Press when
we were independent. We have invested our money
and time to begin this process. We invite you to
join usŠ

I am happy to talk with each and every one of you
and to answer any questions that you may have.
