Re: unusual holiday plants?


Another one that I haven't seen in years is  Clerodendrum  thomsoniae or the 
glory bower vine (plant) though I new see it as the  bleeding heart plant.  It 
was sold in hanging baskets with lush green  foliage and flowers with white 
and red so it has the colors of the season.   I don't think it's well suited to 
modern mass production and shipping methods  but a large hanging basket of 
this plant gives a nice look to the holidays that  you usually don't see.  Still 
easily found via Google  searches.
 
And by the way...Kalanchoe was widely grown and sold in the 60's and  70's.
