"miracle nozzle" watering gadget
I was at a trade show recently and something jogged a dormant memory.
(I have lots of those knocking around.)
A while back, there was some discussion here about a gadget at the
Toronto GWA symposium that let you water your containers without
shooting water and dirt everywhere. The thing was called a Waterquick
Miracle Nozzle. (I actually found the label.) As I recall, all leads
to this thing turned up empty.
Two new bits of info now:
1. When I Googled the whole name, something called the National
Garden Clubs Inc. turned up, which listed it in their 2007 catalogue.
I didn't pursue it further and it's probably a long shot, but...
2. The reason I thought of this was, at the trade show, I noticed a
display with the "Dramm Revolver 9-position spray nozzle." I got one
of these as a gift recently and have been using one of the settings
-- "soaker," I think it is -- to water containers. If you hold the
nozzle upright, set to soaker, the thing dribbles annoyingly down
your arm. BUT if you hold it horizontally over a container, it
burbles nicely into the planter without making any mess -- like the
mythic Miracle Nozzle. The only difference, really, is that you have
to bend down to do the watering.
The Dramm nozzle is a pistol-grip thing with a bunch of settings you
can spin around and set to what suits you best. I thought it was
overkill when I first received it, but with the past dry summer, and
dozens of containers to water plus my sandy beds and borders, it's
been really useful. I've been meaning to let everyone know about this
discovery ever since I made it this summer, but I've been busy watering!
Hope this helps the Miracle Nozzle seekers.
Mary Fran
