I agree with Pat Stone's assessment that GWA symposiums are sharing events. 
I've always found garden writers to be generous people.  From the first 
symposium I attended in Boston to this last one, I've always come away with 
story ideas, questions to pursue and happy memories of good times.  Garden 
writers, by nature, are nurturing people who want to help.  I've been 
mentored by so many in my 15 years in the field and hope that I've helped 
new members in the last few years, now that I have some experience and 
knowledge to share.
