Re: garden blogs

Let me weigh in on this one as a google alert popped up the other day into
my inbox. These guys are starting a "blog network" and they've identified
(using the software indicated) a range of "garden blogs" that they want to
"invite" to join their network. The analysis of social influencers etc is
explained in Malcolm Gladwell's book "The Tipping Point" in case you're
interested.
The details of this network are on the website. You put their badge on
your website to show you're in their network. They take 25% of all
advertising in exchange for them using google adsense and buzzwords on your
site (you can do this yourself) and "sending you extra traffic" (How this
is going to happen isn't very well explained). The contract and terms are
somewhere in there if you follow enough links. I'm on the list so I checked
it out but bottom line - they're taking 25% of the advertising and I can't
see what the heck I get out of it.

But according to the blog - they intend to contact each of the folks on the
list to invite us to join. Maybe they'll give us a lot more info then but
I'm not holding my breath on this one. If anybody gets contacted or wants
to share the info, I'd be intrigued to see what's going on. \

Heck, we could form our own Blog Network if we wanted to do it. GWL Blog
Network - everybody put up a link and away we go. :-) Might be an
interesting experiment if we did it as a neutral site. Ah well, back to
actually writing for a living - coffee break is over.
