follow up and thanks
Dear All,
Just a follow up note to let you know what I decided to plant in and around the swath of columbine that I grew and planted for my husband. Today he and I planted 330 daffodil bulbs over the property and I chose the ?Cheerfulness? to mix in with the Aquilegia. This is to remind me to have a less cranky attitude about the columbine.
I decided to take Cathy Wilkinson Barash?s suggestion and plant Corydalis lutea ? it should self seed around the area and, if I?m lucky, even grow in the stone wall just below the columbine. I?ve already ordered the seeds.
Finally, I?m going to transplant a bunch of Aster dumosus (Symphyotrichum dumosum) in and among everything else ? the basal foliage of this native is really small, and the cloud of lavender flowers it produces in the fall will float over and above everything else. It grows with abandon along my road.
If all goes well I will post photos on my blog next year. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions!
