Re: Agent of the times replies


Acquisitions editors are the folks within a publishing company who [1]
receive book ideas, usually in the form of a proposal, from either agent
or (once in a blue moon) author,  [2] determine whether the publishing
house is interested, then [3] make the offer and negotiate the contract. 
In a word, they acquire new titles.
