Query about 'indoor grow rooms'

Hi, all... I'm working on an article about garden/hort trends, and I've heard that "indoor grow rooms" are growing rapidly in popularity. (I don't mean just growing indoors on the windowsill or in the basement, but designated, well-equipped rooms.)  I know such spaces have been used in the past for marijuana growing, but these days, if I'm understanding correctly, it's more about growing vegetables etc year-round. 

Anybody familiar with this possible trend? There is quite a lot about it online, but any first-hand input would be appreciated. Thanks!
