You can google to get a bunch of opinions -- seems like 6 mo. to 2 yrs.
from most sources.

I don't use it, and I have great success with cuttings, so perhaps all the
stories of people using the same container for years and years has nothing
to do with rooting hormone.

You can also cut some willow branches and use willow water to help rooting.
