Right - the link is to the article but to see/read the article you have to
register (it's free) for access. So - if you want to read the article,
simply register and then you can access the link. With a link to the NYT,
you get waylaid by the registration process but then after that you're
directed to the link again. Pretty simple system. And who wouldn't want
the NYT's for free? (or for seeing a few ads here and there - mostly here.) :-)

Well, 2 points of note. The first is that a link is not an attachment. I
don't like attachments on listservs - they clog up the mail etc. etc <end
of short rant!> A link is simply a connection to another site and doesn't
take up any room at all.

Second point. - Can you cut and paste an entire article? Not this laddy -
I believe it is called copyright infringement and I suspect not recommended
for a writer's board. ;-) Even "Fair Use Provisions" have to be done
pretty carefully. I spent some time with the Chicago Manual of Style 14th
Ed. with this issue when I was writing "Gardening Wisdom" to ensure all the
quotes were done properly and with correct attribution/fair use etc. I
recommend the process to all writers.

I suspect this still holds true. If you don't want to register for the NY
Times, you don't have to read their stuff. :-)

In any case, I thought it might have been of interest to some writers but
certainly not all.
