Then is it Voles that eat roots?????  I know the two are very similar and off hand cannot remember how to tell the two apart (one is blind, I seem to remember), but surely this would be a case of know what you are treating before you decide how to deal with it.  The first step to any pest problem should start with  correct diagnosis and the first step for soils should be a soil test.  Shouldn't we be advocating this line of action prior to suggesting a solution.
