I moved in mid August.  I now have to contend with moles for the first
time in 16 years of gardening.  Have any of you tested any products that
REALLY WORK for these critters?  Our maintenance staff is trying to kill
off the grubs that attract them.  Unfortunately, my new garden is having
a rough time getting established.

I am hoping that someone on this list actually tested a product that works.

Dear Diana,
I had an awful time with moles. I lost about 25% of my garden each year for about five years, trying everything from battery-operated vibrating devices  to the urine of half the wild animal species in the northern hemisphere. I spent a small fortune and nothing worked.
Two years ago I started using milky spore twice a season, beginning and end. It's available now mixed with some type of granular substance so that it spreads easily in a spreader at a standard #18 opening. It's not cheap -- about $50 for the size bag that, if birdseed or dogfood, would be about 50 pounds. It weighs much less, however. I can get by with two bags, which I spread on both the grass and the garden. The number of moles was significantly reduced by the end of the first season although it is supposed to take three years. At the end of the second year, I have only one pesky mole and we seem able to live with each other. Any large garden supply operation will have it. Email me off-list if you want the exact name of the product and I will call the store since I don't have any bags at home presently.
     Good luck,
