Gripe etiquette

   In the recent "mole" thread, some things came up that need to be
addressed.
   To start with, remember that when I correct or object to something done
on the list, I am doing so as list founder.  As such, I am not making
comments to be nasty, but to keep the list on the track that I envisioned
for it when the list first started.  I have never intentionally posted a
comment about something in the list with the aim of shooting down anyone, or
insulting anyone, or even being nasty.  I do it solely to keep the list in
the path I feel it should be. I don't claim to be perfect in my judgement,
but it is MY judgement.
   Secondly, if you are just angy, keep your reply OFF LIST.  For one
reason, anything you say is in the archives permanently.  Do you want to be
remembered on the basis of an angry comment you made?
   More important, too many comments are mostly on the order of "I don't
like what you did" without a lot of constructive value, and every such
comment spawns several "me toos" that just add that much more clutter to the
archives.  If you can't make a constructive comment and just want to vent,
KEEP IT OFF THE LIST.
   Remember also, that as list owner, it is also MY right to show you the
door if I think you are a destructive influence.
   I have tried to be more relaxed in what goes on the list, but that
doesn't mean I don't pay attention to it.
   Most members have said they like the list and it's professionalism.  It's
up to you, the members, to help it stay that way.
