Title: FW: Nut Resource question Jerry Henkin (Sproutnut@aol.com) is a friend of mine in Connecticut who sent the following letter. I am posting it to the list for two reasons. One is that the story could be a good one for a writer in that area. The other is in case someone can help them with the photographic material they are looking for.

Dear Friends,
As some of you may know, Elizabeth Tashjian, who for over 30 years ran the Nut Museum in Old Lyme, Connecticut, is now living in a nursing home. The grand old house and museum, in which she lived and promoted nuts to the thousands of visitors who came by her door, has been sold.
Dr Christopher Steiner, the Interim Director of the Lyman Allyn Art Museum in New London, Connecticut, is planning an exhibit of her nut museum artifacts and her life-long paintings and scuptures, which is scheduled to open on February 13, 2004 and run for several months. One of the rooms in the exhibit will be a media display of her many television appearances.
Don Bernier, whose e-mail I am forwarding to you, has interviewed Ms. Tashjian, as well as those who know her, is working on a documentary which will include video footage of nut production. It is his hope to interest PBS television stations in his documentary.
The NNGA Library does possess some archival still photos of past NNGA meetings, farm workers on nut orchards, and photos of nuts and equipment from the Annual Reports. I will be sending Don some of these. Perhaps you have some other photo treasures you could send him. However, I do not have video clips of nut harvesting or planting or grafting. If you have this material, or know of others who do, would you please contact Don and help him obtain them. Here is a chance for us to further the work of Ms. Tashjian, and the mission of the NNGA, in promoting an interest in nut bearing trees, their products, and their culture.
Please let me know if the materials you suggest to Don can be obtained by the NNGA Library for future reference.
Sincerely yours,
Jerry Henkin,
NNGA Librarian

Dear Jerry,
You introduced yourself at such a good time! For the film about Elizabeth Tashjian, I am currently in search of the two following archival items whicxh I was hoping you may be of some help with:
1. Vintage nut films (any sort of informational/educational film footage of nut growing, manufacturing, eating, etc. ANYTHING re: nuts)
2. Vintage nut photos (same as above)
I would prefer moving imagery rather than stills. I am wondering if the NNGA Library may have any in their holdings? Or, can you steer me in a good direction?
Thanks so much,
Don Bernier
