Well Lon. "Never did anything" might be a tad harsh. I believe there were
a few emails that went back and forth about having to figure out what a
tech committe really was supposed to do. Then there was the decision by
the committee as a group not to respond to that suggestion in a meaningful
manner. Not that this was a formalized decision you understand but rather
one that was carefully arrived by the commonly and perfectly functional
methodology of responding "tomorrow". At least in my calendar, tomorrow
has not yet arrived but if and when it does, I'll have my response
perfectly formed and emailed out (or using whatever level of technology is
then available) to the group from my wheelchair in the nursing home.

So, yes the committee is alive and well, We're currently wrestling the
meaning of technology to the ground. But we can't decide whether that
ground should be composted (as our northerly member wants) or hydroponic
(as one of our westerly members desires) But we're wrestling with this
important issue on behalf of gwa(a). And again, once we have that concept
firmly in our grasp, we'll respond tomorrow to the group as a whole.

Now, we do have a small problem. You see, we were commissioned by the GWAA
to perform this immense task of both defining and dealing with technology
on behalf of a bunch of garden writers who abhor the concept of technology
and would prefer that it simply go away. We find ourselves now reporting
to the GWA (note the subtle but strategic importance of a single "A".) In
Canada, we usually pronounce this as "eh" followed by a question mark. As
in "Technology Committee eh?" But you can see the difficulty.
Commissioned by a AA and now reporting to an A has thrown off the
computers and programming. Its our own garden writers version of Y2K.
We're simply unable to reprogramme our committee function buttons. Without
those all-important committee function buttons (imagine having to operate
without the F1 key?) we're simply technologically illiterate. But again,
we're working diligently on this and should have an answer by tomorrow.

So, Lon I hope this answers your concerns about the group. Man, we're
beavering away out here in tech-land. Getting a handle on technology for
the GWA(A) and I'm sure our report will be out any day now.

Doug
