PAR Update

Hi, for those of you who wonder what kind of difference involving
correctional facilities in your PAR program can make here is an update from
Plainfield Correctional Facility in Indiana. They have donated 3150 more
pounds. That brings the grand total to 5385 pounds! That is the numbers from
just one of the sixteen facilities that are participating.
I sent them the seed. This spring they requested three times the amount of
seed I sent last year. I did that. I sent every seed I had. The results
speak for themselves.
>From our own garden we have donated 660 pounds of produce. I am not done. I
will have another batch of produce to take tomorrow. My garden is not done
for the year and we have begun planting a winter garden. This is
experimental. I sure hope it works and any advice is appreciated. I am in
Indiana. Last year we had success with lettuce, peas and radish. This year
we have added green beans, spinach, carrots, various greens, brussel
sprouts, cabbage, dill, parsley and broccoli. We are still working on
getting frost covers, plastic, frames to hold the plastic, etc. If this
works next year we will increase the winter garden again. We are doing a
little at a time.
