FW: Friday, September 30, is the Claims Filing Deadline

HI, I don't know if this applies to anyone on these lists but I thought I
would forward it just in case.

Sheri

All claims in the freelance writers class action lawsuit must be filed by
Friday, September 30. There's still time to do it, since claims can be
filed online at the official claims administration website,
www.copyrightclassaction.com. (If you're filing a claim for a work for
which the copyright is registered, be sure to mail to the claims
administrator a printout from the Copyright Office website showing your
copyright registration by September 30.)

The process is quick and straightforward.

1. Click on "Claim Form" on the menu at the left on the home page for
copyrightclassaction.com

2. When the page labeled "Claim Form" appears, click on the link at the
bottom of the page, where it says "To access the Online Claim Form, please

3. When the next page, with large boxes for Claim ID and Control Numbers
appears, click the link at the bottom of the page saying "If you do not
have a preprinted clim number of control number but would like to file a
claim on-line, please click here" (unless, of course, you already have a
Claim ID and Control Number).

Then follow the directions for entering your personal contact information
and for making your claims. The process goes quite quickly. Please the
Claim ID and Control Number you're assigned after you submit your claim.
You use those numbers to log back in to claim additional articles.

Although several months ago we posted the link to the official claim
administration website, www.copyrightclassaction.com, we see we haven't
sent that link to those of you who signed on to the freelancerights.com
mailing list. If you haven't received notice from the claims administrator
or a writers' group about the deadline, we apologize, and the Authors
Guild will provide all the help it can to assist you in filing your claim.
Send an e-mail to staff@authorsguild.com and include in the subject line
"freelancerights.com" and we'll get right back to you.
