Re: Turning Black Thumbs Green

Start with a very small garden and locate it in the place in the yard that
needs it the most. The most bang for your buck. Research plants for the
right light, soil, size for the space and care you intend to give. Look
around your neighborhood for plants that work and you like. Buy quality
plants of a good size from a reputable nursery. Prepare the bed with great
soil before planting. Plant using correct spacing guidelines. Water, feed
and maintain (prune, stake, mulch, etc.) only when needed. Wait a year to
see how this garden bed performs for lessons learned before going on to the
next area. If the first bed doesn't work out perfect, (nothing in gardening
is perfect) ask for suggestions from quality nurseries and change the plants
that didn't work, maybe move them to a different area. Welcome to gardening
and remember, you have to kill a lot of plants to really learn to garden!
