I was pleasantly surprised and grateful that the Wi-Fi was free last year. 
There was no premium on the room rate. It was arranged by the committee.

And as far as boosting the room rate - I was poking around the Marriott 
website yesterday trying to learn about parking (exorbitant, too) and found 
that our rate of $129 seems to be standard for this year's hotel - not a 
"special" conference rate.
