Recommended website hosts

Can anybody recommend a good, reliable, competent domain registering and
site hosting company? 

 

Since my provider sold themselves to Easy CGI, my domain and website
administration matters have become a living nightmare and I need to get
everything away from them. I can't trust any claims providers make for
themselves, so am looking for personal recommendations.
