Re: gardenwriters Digest, Vol 92, Issue 6

Thanks for applause, Jeff - But just to be clear, I've not won a
Silver Award or anything else this year. My wife judywhite, on the
other hand, has a Silver for her latest orchid book and of course it
was the letter she received from the GWA that set me off. Especially,
Judy (Lowe), as her letter specifically says that you have to attend
in person in order to be announced.

For many many GWA members, making a living writing about or shooting
gardens has become a great deal more difficult in recent years. The
GWA should be striving tirelessly to help its members make a living -
and doing anything and everything to promote its awards is a crucial
part of this.

Fine... reading out all the names would be dull. But why just give up?
Surely producing an audio visual presentation featuring all the Silver
Award winners is not too much to ask? And Amy's thoughtful ideas for
promoting the awards outside the closed world of the GWA all deserve
thoughtful consideration.
