A Missouri Botanical Garden 'Plant of Merit', this Native to  the 
southeastern US is a compact, slow-growing, deciduous shrub with a dense,  mounded, 
upright spreading habit.  It's best feather is it's fragrant white  flowers, 
nice summer foliage and superb Fall color of red, orange and  yellow.  The 
1-2" long bottlebrush spikes of blooms are fragrant and appear  in spring 
before the foliage.   
Soil:  Acid, well-drained, just like for Azaleas         H: 18-36"(48")
