Thanks for the heads-up Saxon. Good info. I've also worked for Harris (in
the distant past) and sourced all my photos from manufacturers (I was doing
interiors). I had a great editor who was fun to work with and loved my
pitches, so I was very busy -- but not where I wanted to be. The pay wasn't
great, but it was OK.

Sure to set off some discussion:

I appreciate Helen being upfront about the budget she is offering on behalf
of Harris publication, but anyone who is tempted to give up photos for $25
is being taken advantage of.  I work regularly with Harris and will tell you
I get 4-5 times that amount.  They are cheap skates and are always looking
for new sources of photos - and use any source they can find.  I don't blame
them.  They find lots of cheap photos.  But I also know they will  pay of
higher quality photos of subjects that are hard to find - like Flea Market
Outdoors.

If you think your photos are worth more than $25, then ask for professional
rate.  I can put you in touch with the photo editor.  Helen is being put in
a hard spot, but I must speak up.
