RE: old house

There are some great barns around here (Champaign, IL--east central IL).
People are catching on, too. We have about 3 barn tours a year. Also, has
anyone seen the Smithsonian barn exhibition? Really wonderful.

My husband made a potting shed for me (he got a 3-car garage). I found some
red siding from a 100-year old horse barn near Peoria for the walls. Also
put a couple pictures up inside the shed of the barn before it was torn
down. Turns out the wood is cypress. We had a vision of it coming up the
Mississippi from the south, but I guess cypress grows in southern IL as
well.

Hi Frances
I was telling my daughter how this house is old for this part of the
country but young compared to out east and in Europe. I love old houses
and barns but we are losing most of our barns in the last 30 years. Now
just ugly tin buildings.
