Hello hosta lovers, new member here, Name's Melissa.
I'm not sure how much area you'll need to protect, but a nice,
non-chemical way to scare 'em off is a knee-hi nylon stocking with
human hair in it. The local barber shop is always a good source of
hair, as are hairbrushes around the house. They need recharging every
now and then, but if you don't need to protect a large area, they do
well and are environmentally safe, and a good way to get a little more
mileage out of some stuff you'd just normally toss away.
Glad to be here. My hostas are about six inches out of the ground and
leaf litter here in Southern Ohio.
