If as Barbara +ACM-1 says the daffodils are only up 1 inch I would not
expect to see any hosta pips yet. It depends on the daffodil quite a
bit. My pseudonarcissus flowers are starting to fade and I have very few
hosta pip showing here in zone 7.
I would use single strength. Don't get any on your hostas. It will not
kill them but it won't do them any good either.
