Great Hosta Photo Contest

  • Subject: Great Hosta Photo Contest

Hi Everybody,
Have you been tuning in to The Great Hosta Photo Contest at the HostaLibrary? Don't forget it ends this weekend. After Karen has held a solid 40-point lead for over 3 weeks, it looks like Carol has made her move today. She submitted over 100 photos this morning and has seized the lead in a big way. She must have really been working the last few weeks to get so many together. Can Karen charge into the lead one more time? These two have fought quite a battle all summer, with the lead changing hands numerous times. It won't be easy, but I'll bet Karen hasn't been resting on her lead these last weeks either. Looks like we're heading for an exciting finish. There haven't been any new entries in a while from third-placer Nathan Wood. Will another batch show up from him too? Given the size of his last batch, he can't be ruled out either.
There's still time for some of the other competitors to move up a notch or two in the ratings. Don't forget there's a pretty good batch of prizes at stake in the Great Hosta Photo Contest. Before the day is over, those of us working on the contest will post the prizes and closing information. Remember --- this coming Sunday is your last chance to get more photos in of plants that are not already in the Library. Please check to see they are spelled correctly and not already there, possibly under an older or newer name. Only plants not already there can be entered. Plants that do not have their own name, like " 'Kabitan' green form" or " 'Gold Standard' streaked" are also not being accepted.
The ratings and points below are from an unofficial count I did this morning. The official final count will be available only after the contest ends and all entries have been checked to see if they comply with the rules.
