I noticed recently while walking around the yard that some of my hostas are showing their roots.  Should I cover them up with mulch?  What is surprising that these hostas are some of the oldest plants in my garden ,and I have not had this problem before.  I have heard of young plants that were not established heaving.  Is this common?  Thanks Chris

Hosta that are heaving -- almost appear to be crawling out of the ground -- should be mulched immediately!
