auction picture

I was just at the Hosta Library looking over the First Look auction offerings. The picture of Ran's 'Archduke' is kind of cute, but I was wondering who's the chubby guy in the funny hat standing next to the plant. Who is that? Looks a bit like Benny Hill with a mustache, but I think he's dead.
