Hi John,
I got the info from Paul. The fragrance may have been a figment of his
(nose) imagination. I have never seen (read smelled) a fragrant H.
pycnophylla although K. Watanabe in his small booklet on hostas (1985) makes
a statement that fragrant forms of H. pycnophylla exist. Regards, W. George
