sustitute wicking mat

Last year I used a wicking mat that came with some kits. It is deteriating and I would like to find something to replace it with.Has anyone found something that works from a fabric store or do I need to search for a supplier. I never had to water seedlings until they got big. and no damp off. I was so thrilled I dont want to start with out it but the search goes on. I did find a mat in Gardeners Supply 7.95 for 1 yd and 6 bucks shipping.but would like othr options.
