Castor oil treatment

I have read of treating gardens with a castor oil solution to run off moles and voles. Anyone had any success with this concept? What concentration of castor oil would be the best level for treatment.
Advertisers are also touting the sonic transmitters for pest repellant. Any experience with those things?
