Marie,
Everybody has their favorite way to store seeds.
As in Mother nature does in winter...freezing seems to be the largest agreement.
What you freeze them in is up to you...some use the little jewelry bags some tuck them in the black plastic canisters that film comes in. Grandpa Nash uses Canning jars I think.
Also putting them in a deep freezer would be better than a frostless kitchen freezer.
And in my humble opinion germination rates have to do with how much you want that particular seed to germinate and how rare and streaky it is...The more you want it the less you will get germination....lol.
Just remember to have fun with it...and you might want to start with garden variety hostas seeds till you find the way to start hosta seeds that works best for you.
