Peggy,
FWIW, I add about a half a soup can of Green Sand, same amount of soft
phosphate, and about a couple hands full of alfalfa meal. Mix well into
soil. As you have good loam, no sense adding much else. You can always
add WELL rotted animal manure, mushroom compost, Comtil (composted and
sterilized city sewage with pine bark or sawdust added), leaf compost -
all will add to the organic matter. Then put that $50 plant into a $50
hole, not a 50 cents hole. Then mulch to hold water.
