Kate, here in Delaware we had 1 " hail for 10 minutes. My big hosta leaves that were in direct exposure have nice holes punched in them. Biggest casualty were the thin little leaves on small hostas - tore them off. Also took out a lot of new growth on Japanese maples and young banana plant leaves.
Still, had 1.5 " of rain - looks great today, at 90 degrees.
