I've used alfalfa pellets for several years; I don't
think they were heat treated, which I have heard
should be avoided. The pellets I use, 50# bags of 'pony food,' break down
very easily. Do your 'crunchy' ones
fall apart when moistened? When I get back home in six weeks, I'll look into
this, send brand names, etc. Gail
