RE: Pill bugs/sow bugs

Narda, maybe you know this for a fact, but asking me if it's right: doesn't
sound right! I always thought "bug" was the street word for "insect."

OK, so I checked my little deskside dictionary. Bug is defined first as an
insect "or other creeping or crawling invertibrate animal."

Insect seems to be a subgroup of bugs: "any of a major group of small,
usually winged animals (as flies, bees, beetles, and moths) with three pairs
of legs." Thinking of insects as animals is another strange thing even tho
I know they're part of the fauna....

So spiders and centipedes are also bugs but not insects. Very
interesting--thanks for the note!

Diann

Yes bugs, but not insects. Insects are bugs but bugs are not necessarily
insects. Sound right? N.
