Re: 23 species or less?

George
There have been some intresting observations with this plant.  It is a chance sport ( another one) of Sum and Substance.  It has a broad , fairly well defined yellow margin and puckered green center.  When we have a "sport" that is all gold, it looks and grows like S&S.  Any all green "sport" however, is very slow to devlope.  More intresting is the scape and bloom.  Unlike Sum and Substance , the scapes are around 12 " tall ( on all plants that have bloomed so far.) and addtion, the blooms are "heavy" and waxy and very closly clustered on the scape  They are (not unexpectedly) strile.
Thanks
Ran

Hi, Ran,

Thanks. This is important and thanks to Ben. Joe's remarks contribute to the solution.

A test done on my plant 'Eagles Nest'  Showed the center, to be hexaplody.  The test was done by Ben.
Thanks

Joe,

Thanks for your comments which are congruent with my investigations. I am not certain about hexaploidy because none has shown up to my knowledge. It is possible, of course, that it exists. Maybe Ben has found evidence of it.
