Zone 4 is too cold for Japanese maples, and the amur maple
(acer ginala) is oftentimes recommended as a substitute.
Does anyone have any experience with an amur maple
planted around their hostas? Does this maple have the
same invasive root system and moisture requirements as the larger maples
do?
