Ran,

Sounds like the key is moisture rather than light. Mine was a division
from a mature plant last year. It could be that there are not enough
roots yet to absorb the moisture required by the leaves. Do mature
plants seem to do better than fresh divisions? (I would guess "yes")

We field grow our stock of QOI in the full sun, in a moist field.  I have
never seen it "burn". It looks great this spring.
