Love Pat reverts

Planted a mature division of Love Pat last June, nice plant with 3 or 4 crowns which looked fine all summer.  It came up late this spring in the form of a mini Love Pat.  Currently has 4 crowns and the leaves are
1 1/2" inches long and deeply cupped.  Looks like a deeply cupped Baby Bunting as the whole plant is only about 4" across.  What is happening?
