Nice to know I am right about something! Now, here is a question I
haven't thought about but which came to mind yesterday when I was
transplanting some hosta seedlings. One of the seedlings had some red
color in the "petiole" part of the cotyledon that extented up into the
main vein on the cotyledon. Not very dramatic, but still there. Now,
leaves have petioles, but I have not seen that the "petiole-like" part
of the cotyledon has any special name. I would think it would be best
to refer to this as a cotyledon-petiole since it looks like a petiole,
but actually isn't.
