Hi Mary
I can't remember which it was but on some evergreens you crush the base
where you took the cuttings. This gives more surface area or it just
roots better where it was crushed and is placed in sand I think. You
should probably look at Dirr's Woody Plants book or some other reference
book for exact directions.
